Position: Commercial Motor Vehicle Operator - Cadillac, MI (Not Currently Hiring - Accepting Applications Only) |
Position Reports To: Transportation Manager and / or Dispatcher | Position Basic Functions: Must safely operate a commercial motor vehicle with a gross weight rating or gross combination weight of 10,001 or more pounds as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) in interstate, intrastate, and/or foreign commerce to transport cargo, principally boats and associated items, as well as general freight, to and from manufacturing sites, dealerships, boat shows, or transshipment facilities. Must safely deliver and/or pick up assigned loads, transport them and return to the next point of dispatch in a safe manner. Is on the road up to 20 or more days out of every 30, driving approximately 600 miles per day, 12,000 to 15,000 miles per month. | Position Essential Functions:- Safely operate a commercial motor vehicle for 11 or more hours per day in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Sit 11 or more hours per day, carry up to 60 pounds, push up to 60 pounds, pull up to 100 pounds, lift up to 120 pounds, climb in and out of truck, climb onto trailer, climb 6 to 8 foot ladder, see, hear, crawl, stand, bend, walk, squat, reach, crouch, kneel, and balance as required to properly perform all job duties.
- Pick up, transport and deliver boats and related cargo and general freight to and from boat manufacturing sites, dealerships, boat shows, and transshipment facilities throughout the U.S. and Canada. Pick up and deliver backhaul loads as assigned.
- Conduct vehicle and cargo inspections, taking follow up actions as required.
- Load and unload cargo.
- Comply with all provisions of the Genmar Commercial Motor Vehicle Operator’s Manual, to include maintaining daily driver logs as prescribed by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (CFR 49 Part 395).

- Maintain assigned vehicle and equipment in neat condition.
- Maintain paperwork and be accountable for cargo.
- Maintain knowledge of updates and / or changes to applicable Federal, State, Provincial, and Local rules and regulations as they pertain to commercial motor vehicle operation.
| Position Qualifications:- Must be knowledgeable about and demonstrate the ability to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with applicable federal, state/provincial, and local laws.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and be able to read, write, and speak the English language sufficiently perform the job, i.e. to converse with the general public, understand highway signs and signals, respond to official inquiries, and make entries on required reports and records.
- Must meet all physical, mental, and medical qualifications set forth in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (CFR 49 Part 391).
- Must be able to sit, carry, push, pull, lift, climb, see, hear, crawl, stand, bend, walk, squat, reach, crouch, kneel, and balance as required to properly perform all essential functions listed above.
- Must satisfy the controlled substances and alcohol use and testing requirements as set forth in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (CFR 49 Part 382).

- Must be knowledgeable about and be able to perform procedures to ensure marine and other cargo is properly located, distributed, tied down and secure.
- Must possess only one valid Class-A commercial driver’s license (CDL), which includes endorsements appropriate for the type of vehicle(s) operated and cargo transported.
- Must be able to work alone and exercise good independent judgment for extended periods while on the road.
- Must provide all information to complete and maintain a driver qualification file containing all records, certificates, and other documents required by applicable portions of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (CFR 49 Parts 382 – 399), and established company policies.
